The Makeup Battle Series | Foundations

Finding a foundation that is true to your skin tone while it looks and feels natural can be a daunting task. Especially if you have sensitive skin like me or if you are not too familiar with the makeup realm. I found my perfect matches through trial and error.

After trying five different foundations I finally found a couple that work best for me. Keep on
reading to find out my pro’s and con’s and what I have rated them on a scale of 1-10!

You can also shop the post by simply clicking on the names of the foundations and be sure to check out my bonus tip below!

Great for oily to normal skin types. The consistency is thicker than what I expected. However, it blends very well. One flaw I did come across is that it is not the best when covering up pimples. It dried out my skin in the affected area(s) and made my pimples stand out more. The 12 - hour coverage promise is not fully 12 hours for my skin type. Instead it was roughly 8-10 hours of coverage.

This is actually one of my favorite foundations. It gives a true matte finish and I have found that my makeup sets fairly well with this foundation and lasts almost all day with little to no touch up needed. The downfall for me was the size to price ratio of the bottle but the fact that it is truly water resistant was worth it for me and the consistency is not as thick as Tarte’s Amazonian clay foundation.

My Rating: 10

This is the latest foundation that I have been trying and I highly recommend this! The consistency is thicker than MAC Pro Longwear but not as thick as Tarte’s Amazonian Clay. My makeup sets perfectly with this foundation. I would say my makeup lasts longer with this foundation than MAC Pro Longwear. Hides your dark circles and blemishes very well!

Bonus Tip**

Being Indian brings forth some challenges as well, like the dreaded dark circles!
I use MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter to cover my dark circles before applying this foundation and then I conceal with Tarte's Shape Tape and that has given me 100% coverage. No touch-ups needed when going from day to night time looks.

This particular foundation was a complete miss for me. The application was not as smooth as I preferred. It gave me more of an oily look rather than a matte look. Throughout the day I would touch my face and when I went to wash my hands, you could literally see the foundation wash off my fingers! Needless to say, this was not full coverage for my skin. My foundation would always wear off before the day ended and it would rub off on my clothes as well. This was a definite no go for me!

The consistency of this foundation is nowhere near the other 4 foundations. It is watery yet the application of it is very smooth. I recommend using a beauty blender rather than a foundation brush for application. Be sure to shake the bottle thoroughly. There was a strong perfume like smell to this foundation which had me concerned about the ingredients but no harm was done to my skin. My makeup did not set as well with this foundation. However, this is perfect for Sunday errands as the foundation is very light and velvet like. This is a bit on the pricey side so if you don't like wearing lots of makeup and want a very light feel then this is perfect for you!
